Coromandel Town
Situated approximately 50km up the Pacific Coast Highway north of Thames, Coromandel is a quaint yet bustling town with it's restored heritage architecture which dates back to the days of the gold rush and when the hills were clothed in Kauri.
Spoilt for choice if you happen to find yourself at a loose end on any given day when the local gift and art shops are impossible to resist with plenty of local goods to buy and browse & you won't go hungry with a scrumptous array of local cuisine to choose from too!
Coromandel town is the exclusive gateway point to the stunning Northern Cormandel with it's scenic drives and incredible vista's over the gulf and Pacific. Drive the Kennedy Bay road and head just 10 minutes out of town and place yourself at the top of the Tokatea hill where you can look from east and west coast from the same spot - spectacular and a must see! Make sure you stock up before you head north tho - for an area to be this stunning and idyllic, it is also remote with only one stop at the north west settlement of Colville where you can get any further supplies or gas.
